Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic had a profound impact on Indonesia’s healthcare sector. During the pandemic, healthcare stocks experienced a substantial increase in returns and heightened trading activity, driven by surging demand for pharmaceutical products, medical equipment, and hospital services. However, as the pandemic transitioned into an endemic phase, this trend weakened, characterized by declining returns and reduced trading activity for several issuers. This study aims to examine the differences in stock returns and trading volume activity (TVA) of healthcare companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing a purposive sampling technique to select 16 healthcare companies as the research sample. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 30. The findings reveal a significant difference in stock returns between the pandemic and post-pandemic periods, while no significant difference was observed in TVA across these periods.In conclusion, the Covid-19 pandemic exerted a stronger influence on stock return fluctuations than on trading volume activity within Indonesia’s healthcare sector.
