Abstract

This internship report analyzes the effectiveness of implementing the 5S corporate culture (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) at PT Sebastian Jaya Metal in supporting the work environment. PT Sebastian Jaya Metal has implemented the 5S culture since March 2023 by involving all company divisions and appointing specific person-in-charge in each division. Implementation is carried out through regular socialization, daily picket duty system, violation fines, and inter-departmental competitions to increase employee participation. Evaluation is conducted through internal audits and the use of 5S checklists. For sustainability, the company formed a 5S team responsible for maintaining and improving the implementation of the 5S culture. Although not yet fully effective due to the introduction and implementation phase, the 5S culture has had a positive impact, such as a more spacious work area, better item arrangement, cleaner environment, more efficient equipment usage, and increased employee responsibility and communication. To optimize implementation, the company conducts regular external 5S audit training programs.
