Abstract

The advancement of financial technology has an impact on e-commerce platforms. This encourages e-commerce to offer digital payment service, one of which is the paylater payment method. In Indonesia, Shopee is the most widely used e-commerce platform and Shopee PayLater is the most widely used paylater platform. This payment method enables users to buy product or services even though they don’t have sufficient money. This can lead to a person's consumptive behavior, especially among Generation Z, who use these services to fulfill their wants and not their needs, as well as Generation Z's low financial literacy. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy and lifestyle on consumptive behavior. This research method is a quantitative research method. The population in this study is Generation Z Shopee PayLater users in Bekasi City. The sampling technique used was a purposive sampling technique with criteria, namely Shopee PayLater users, Generation Z aged 18-28 years, and living in Bekasi, and the sample in this study amounted to 160 respondents. Data analysis using multiple linear regression analysis with IBM SPSS 26. The results showed that (1) financial literacy has no influence on the consumptive behavior of ShopeePayLater users in Bekasi City, (2) lifestyle has a significant positive effect on the consumptive behavior of Generation Z users. The results showed that (1) financial literacy has no influence on the consumptive behavior of Shopee PayLater users in Bekasi City, (2) lifestyle has a significant positive influence on the consumptive behavior of Generation Z Shopee PayLater users in Bekasi City, and (3) financial literacy and lifestyle simultaneously have a significant influence on the consumptive behavior of Shopee PayLater users in Bekasi City. The conclusion in this study is that high or low financial literacy does not affect consumptive behavior, while high or low lifestyle does affect consumptive behavior
