Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of the Sales Growth, Debt to Equity ratio, Firm size, and Intellectual Capital on Financial distress in the Energy Sector Listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange in 2019 – 2024. Design/ methodology/approach: This study uses quantitative data, the sample in study is energy sector companies listed on Indonesian Stock Exchange in the period 2019 – 2024 as many 15 companies. The analysis technique used to test the hypothesis is multiple regression analysis using Eviews-9 software. Findings: The results of this study indicate that the sales growth variable is not empirically proven to have a positive effect on financial distress, the debt to equity ratio variable has a positive and statistically significant effect on financial distress, the firm size variable is not empirically proven to have a negative effect on financial distress, and the intellectual capital variable is not empirically proven to have a negative effect on financial distress. Originality/value: This study discusses financial distress and other factors such as sales growth, debt to equity ratio, firm size, and intellectual capital which focuses on energy sector companies. This study uses zmijewski as a measurement of financial distress.
